Sunday 27th March 2005

St John's Wood High Street

An email from Tanya on Tuesday 29th March 2005
"Hi all
Just a quick word about my weekend
Very quiet except for Easter Sunday
Daylight saving had just started so I had to get up an hour earlier
I was meeting Jason at Starbucks in Hammersmith Station
We got there and had a coffee (much needed due to the early start)
and caught the tube to Regent's Park
We went for a walk through Regent's Park which neither of us had been to before
and it was lovely
We got ourselves to St John's Wood High Street for breakfast
(it had been recommended to me)
and had a lovely croissant with mushrooms and cheese and a fresh oj
- it was good and I finished Jason's because he couldn't!!"

Self-contained and prosperous,
the St John's Wood High Street is a reflection of the area's demographics
Parking is still permitted here,
which leads to the street often being clogged with motorists waiting for an available space
The tube station is five minutes walk
There is a high proportion of independent retailers in the High Street
Expensive? - yes, but not if you are just window shopping!!!

One of the shops - "Cafe Rouge"......

......and some of the many others......

......and here is the one that Tanya and Jason went to......

A note from Tanya
"It was Easter Sunday and very quiet
The street was lovely and posh!
We were at a place called Maison Blanc - french and very pink!"

Welcome to Maison Blanc for Premium French foods and experience
Modern and innovative but true to artisan values and tradition,
Maison Blanc invites you to discover real quality food and a true taste of France
St John's Wood was the first London shop to incorporate a sophisticated Salon de Thé
It opened in 1997 and is situated on the High Street
The shop allows customers to linger longer after their continental breakfast,
lunch time savouries or afternoon pâtisserie
Just around the corner from Lords, this is the perfect place for cricket teas

......and Tanya's croissant!!!
