"I am going to see the Socceroos play!
They are playing South Africa on Tuesday 30th March at 8.00pm at Loftus Road, London
I am booking two definately and will fax the order first thing tomorrow morning
£15 gets - a pre-game party, ticket with a group of 500 Aussies and a T-shirt
I have organised a group of 25 of us to go from my work
and the hostel and some other friends too....
It should be awesome!
We even got a South African to come in our group
Poor bloke! - if we win he will get a hard time and if we lose he will still get a hard time!
There are also a couple of Kiwis and Derek (Canadian) wanted to know why I hadn't asked him
so I did and he is coming too!

SOCCEROOS VS SOUTH AFRICA - LONDON
The Socceroos will be playing their second match in 2004 in London, following the 1-1 draw against Venezuela in Caracas last Wednesday.
Nicknamed Bafana Bafana ('The Boys'), South Africa will provide the Socceroos with a style of football from another rising football continent.
There’s no doubt the Saffa community in London will match the Australians for vocal support, so will you lend a hand to the Australian cause?
Opponent - South Africa
When - Tuesday 30th March
Kick Off - 8.00pm
Where - Loftus Road, London

The Match
The match against South Africa will be the second home game for the Socceroos in England, following the match against Jamaica last September that was played in Reading.
The Socceroos have played South Africa 17 times at senior international level between 1947 and 1996, winning only 5 times with 1 draw and 11 losses.
The last match against South Africa was on 18 September 1996 in Johannesburg, with the Bafana Bafana winning 2-0.
Farina was delighted to get the two games against a quality opponent that is currently ranked 36 in the FIFA World Rankings.
“South Africa is one of the leading countries within that region (Africa) and is regularly playing at World Cups,” Farina said.
“So it will be a test in terms for us, playing a quality opponent that are regularly at World Cups and major competitions.”

If the group organiser cannot make it on the night please email us before close of business this Thursday March 25th & arrange for someone else to pick up the tickets

Match Night
There have been a few emails back & forth about the best venue for a few drinks before the match.
While some have said the obvious choice is the Walkabout, others have said it will be too packed & the rest have said that the number of people will make the atmosphere all that much better.
So with all that being said we have decided to join the masses at the Walkabout & get amongst what will be a great precursor to the match.
We will be congregating there at whatever time you finish work (for the unemployed from 4.00pm) & the last place to fill up in the bar is the dance floor so when you get to the Walkabout head straight to the dance floor & you will find us.
We will be heading off to the ground on mass at approx 7.00pm so we get in there for the warm up & in plenty of time for the 8.00pm kick off.
All those wearing a Fanatics t-shirt will get £1.50 Snake bites & 2 for 1 TED's, Tooheys New, Reefs for the duration of the night.
Look out for some other great promos on the night.

Note from Tanya on Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th March 2004
"Hullo
The Soccer Pre-Game-Party-Night went off without a hitch last night
although it wasn't really a party - just people picking up their shirts and tickets
I told everyone that they had to be there last night or arrange someone to pick up their stuff
so that I wasn't trying to get tickets and shirts to people tonight
when I just want to go to the game and have a good time
They all rocked up and it was good
A few folks bought me a beer
and all money is paid off my credit card
- or will be when I go to the bank....but at least I have it all!
There was 11 off us there as a few folks from the hostel had Johnathon
pick up their stuff but it is all organised
BTW - the shirts are really cool and very very very yellow!!
Apparently we are sitting behind one of the goals
so you shouldn't be able to miss us
You must make sure you tape the game to have a look for us....
wouldn't mind you chucking that on a video for us too!
I am really looking forward to tonight
The weather is good and this afternoon should be about 16 degrees
which hopefully means a nice warmish night
It is also good that daylight saving has started as it is lighter until later
Tanya"

......and again on Wednesday 31st March 2004
"Last night was on a par with Australia Day
which I have said is the most fun that I have had here so far!
Australia won which was awesome and we all had a ball"
