We slept in and skipped breakfast.
I had planned an easy day and a long day for our two days in Paris.
Brett said he wanted to do the long day first and get it out of
the way.
We headed off and caught the
metro to the Arc De Triomphe.
I think Brett was pretty impressed.
We took some photos and then went over the middle of the roundabout.
The traffic is totally out of control so there is an underpass
to use.
We climbed up to the top and the viewing platform.
It was a fantastic view.
The Eiffel Tower sticking out from the city just looks amazing.
The view down the Champs Elysees to the Louvre was good too.
We also got a birds eye view
of the traffic on the roundabout and I could not believe it when
I saw a cyclist on the road as well.
There is no way I would ever do that
and Brett thought London
was mad!
There was a small museum in the building so we had a look through
that and watched the German army marching through the arch.
Some of the history was very interesting.
After that we started our wander
down the Champs Elysees.
We went past the Maccas that I nearly got arrested in.
We went into a perfume shop and after about two minutes Brett
decided he would wait outside for me.
After that we went into GAP and he got a new shirt.
We kept walking down through Place de la Concorde and I got a crepe and Brett a hot dog.
We sat down by a little pond and finished eating and then continued on our way down towards the Louvre.
We took a few photos on the outside and we headed in.
We got a map and headed off
I
wanted to see some Royal Jewels, the Venus de Milo and of course
the Mona Lisa.
It started badly - the jewel room was closed.
Never mind - we went and found the Venus de Milo and then things
got worse.
I may have gotten us lost!
Brett grabbed the map and directed
us around and got us to see the Mona Lisa.
I still cant believe the amount of people in there pushing
for a shot of her.
It is pretty funny.
We got our photos and headed off to find an exit with Brett in
the lead with the map in hand!
The next stop was the Notre
Dame Cathedral.
It is still beautiful and I still love it.
We had to eat first though.
We found a pizza café and I had a pizza and Brett some
pasta - were we still in Italy?
We sat outside and had a nice view of the Notre Dame while downing
our lunch and resting our tired feet.
Brett said that he has no idea how people do this kind of travel
and staying hostels etc for months on end.
I love travelling that way
its a good way to meet people.
We headed off to the church.
There were some roller bladders setting up their cones to do some
trick skating so we took the opportunity to rest out feet again
and watch them for a while.
We headed along the side of the church because I wanted to show
Brett the back of it.
It really is my fave and I like the photos that I got there this
time.
We went back around the front
and in.
I was much more pleased with the inside this time as the scaffolding
was all gone and there were perfect views of the three rose windows.
They really are stunning.
We walked to the metro station
via the Latin Quarter and found a man making crepes.
I made Brett have one with banana and nutella and he really liked
it.
I could eat those things all day
they are so yummy.
Then it was time to go back to the hotel for a snooze before heading
out for dinner and to see the Eiffel Tower at night.
We had planned to get to the Tower before dinner.
Every hour it starts to sparkle and I wanted to see that.
We didnt make it in time
Brett saw the reflection of
it sparkling in a building so we hit a restaurant instead.
I ordered snails and Brett did try them.
I do actually quite like them.
After that it was to the Tower
again.
We found a spot and sat down
there were heaps of people around
and it was a really good atmosphere.
It started to sparkle and I got some really good shots of it.
I used the tripod to take timer shots of the both of us and I
think they turned out pretty well.
We sat around for a while and then headed back to the hostel.
We were both pretty tired after such a long day and had a much
easier day planned for the tomorrow.
