We were leaving for Paris in
the afternoon so we had a fairly easy day planned.
We walked to the hotel where the airport bus leaves from to check
our times - the bus we had to catch was leaving at 4.30pm.
We then walked to the Pantheon.
The only thing about the Pantheon
was the fact that it has a hole in the roof so the snow and rain
can come in.
It is a bit odd.
There are drainage holes in the floor but I just think it would
have been easier to cover it over
never mind!
It was massive though.
There is a picture of Brett standing next to a pole at the front
and it is massive.
From there we walked to the
Trevi Fountain.
That is another place that I could have sat all day.
Rome was stinking hot and the fountain was very cooling to be
near.
We took photos and there was
another bride having her photos taken with the all the tourists.
I really dont get it myself.
From there we headed towards the Spanish Steps.
We went down Via Condotti as
recommended by Karen because that is where the designer shops
are.
Geez, they were everywhere - Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Yves
St Lauren etc etc etc.
Brett wouldnt go in any of them with me but I did, he also
didnt want to spend 360 on a green Gucci wallet for
me - it was beautiful and I am still having fantasies about it!
The Spanish steps were nothing
great.
They didnt look anything like the pictures of them that
I had seen and were basically just steps.
Apparently the beautiful people used to hang around
on them hoping to be chosen as an artists model!
No one asked me to model for them that day!!
During the course of that day my darling brother brought me a
lovely red bag - Mum, you will die when you see it and I purchased
myself a yellow purse.
Both of them are lovely and I now have my leather from Italy!
We went back to the hostel for a rest before having to take the
bus to the airport.
We showered and changed and then headed to the hotel to catch
the bus.
We got to the airport and checked in.
When we boarded we managed to get the same seats so Brett again
had lots of leg room.
We landed on time and Brett pointed out to be that the arrival
building was actually a tent - nice!
We were about an hour and a half out of Paris and had to take
a bus and two metro trains to get to the hostel...it was actually
really easy but of course Brett had a few words about it!!
The hostel was nice but we were in separate rooms the first night
- I dont think Brett minded as he was chatting to some Norwegian
girls in his room!
He has to think there are some advantages to travelling on a budget!!
