prior to departure
Upon arriving at Oslo
Torp Airport a shuttle bus will take
us to Oslo Bus Terminal (130kr / 100min)
We are staying at the Anker
Hostel which is less than 10 minutes walk from there
Sheets (45kr), towels (15kr) and breakfast (60kr) are all available
at Anker
After checking in we will go on a pub crawl of Oslo which
will conveniently pass many of the cities major sites
This will enable us to spend more time on Saturday exploring selected
sites in depth
On Saturday I recommend
four things
(1) The
Viking Ship Museum at Bygdoy (50kr)
(2) The
Vigeland Sculpture Park (free)
(3) The
Holmenkollen Ski Museum and Jump Tower (60kr)
(4) The
Akershus Fortress (free)
There may be just enough time to visit three of these - however
it will be best if you decide on two and fit the third in if you
have time
We will meet back at Anker at 15:30 and then take taxis (50kr)
to the port where the "Pearl
Of Scandinavia" cruise ship will
be waiting for us
Details of our voyage are
Saturday 16th October 2004
DFDS Seaways Pearl Of Scandinavia
From Oslo depart 17:00
To Copenhagen arrive 9:15 (17th October)
Once on board I recommend we sit down for the buffet dinner in the Seven Seas Restaurant (£19 including fresh salmon, crayfish, prawns,
hot meats, salads, desert etc)
We will then party the voyage away in the Admiral Pub and Compass Nightclub
Upon arriving in Copenhagen we will take the bus (17kr) to Central Station where we
will store our bags in lockers (25kr small / 35kr large)
We will then take bus #26 (17kr) to the Carlsberg Brewery where
I have arranged for us a free tour (including beers) at 11.00am
After this we will go on a brief walking tour of the city
before boarding the Netto-Badene
sightseeing boat for a canal cruise
(25kr)
After this we will have a late lunch at Riz Raz restaurant (75kr
all you can eat + ½ litre of water) which has been regularly
voted the best of its kind in Copenhagen
You will then have some free time to relax and explore before
we take the evening train (25.5kr) to the international airport
where our flight will be waiting to take us back to sunny London
Please remember
(1) if you have an ISIC or Young Persons Rail Card you can get
discount on the Stansted Express train from Liverpool St or Tottenham
Hale
(2) public transport costs in Oslo and Copenhagen are your responsibility
so have some Kronas with you when you arrive
There is an ATM at Torp airport for those who forget, as well
as a money exchange on the cruise ship
(3) our night time activities will be huge! - prepare yourself
accordingly; and
(4) pack your passport!!!
Feel free to call me any time on 07736453531 if you have any further
questions
