London Open Gardens and Squares Weekend

Wednesday 9th June 2004
"Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts"
This weekend is the London Open Gardens and Squares Weekend
so all the private gardens around London are open to the public
and you can go in
The one I want to go and see is the Lansdowne and Elgin Crescent Garden
which is the one from Notting Hill that Hugh Grant said
'whoopsy daisy'
when he couldn't climb the fence! (Movie -
Let me know if you want to come!

Lots of photos below!!!

For the first time, a whole weekend to discover London's hidden garden secrets.

More than 80 of London's beautiful private garden squares
will be unlocking their gates for the seventh Open Garden Squares Weekend
on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th June 2004.

Many public squares will also be taking part.
London's garden squares are among its greatest assets
and are a vital part of what makes London unique as a world city.

Open Garden Squares Weekend draws attention to the contribution
that London's 600 garden squares make to the capital's culture
and environment and the importance of continuing to conserve them.

With more of the capital's hidden gardens taking part than ever before,
you will be able to discover romantic woodland walks,
secret children-only play areas, herb gardens and rose-covered pergolas.

Tanya's walk around the gardens

Sunday morning I went to some of the private gardens that were open for the weekend.

Me, Kaz, Ella, Michelle and Cassie went to the park that Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts broke into in Notting Hill.
The bench they sat on was missing - they said that people try and steal it.
But the had a concrete bench there so we all sat on it and took photos.

It was quite good fun.
The garden is lovely and the houses around it are worth upwards of £5 millions pounds each - do the conversion on that number!

Cassie and Michelle are two Aussie girls that have moved into our house.
They are really nice and I spend heaps of time with them.
