Prague

The Old Town Square

The details on The Astronomical Clock - "Staromestsky Orloj"

"We stopped for lunch and then went into the Old Town Square
to see the Astronomical Clock go off"

"I must say that it was probably the crappiest thing
that I have seen tourists stand around for!!
I suppose I should appreciate the fact that it was old and very ahead of its time blah blah blah
but it certainly didn't deserve the clap that everyone gave it!!"

What is the Orloj?

Basically, the Orloj is a clock with a history line better than a Grisham novel plot
It does astronomical 'things' and also entertains about every tourist who comes to Prague for at least three minutes

The famous saying "See Naples and die" can be used in the case of the Orloj but we suggest in modifying it to "Don't die before you see the Orloj!"

A magical and popular monument in the Old Town Square (Stare Mesto) for all visitors and residence in Prague

The Astronomical Clock was built in the early 15th century by Nicolas of Kadan and later completed by Hanus, a famous clock maker

The Astronomical Clock draws in huge crowds every hour just before the hour
You can then witness one of the most magical and slightly humorous show you have ever seen from a town clock
